Learn how to scuba dive in a secure manner while earning the most widely recognised scuba diving certification in the world: the PADI Open Water Diver certification. You will get the opportunity to learn how to dive in Phuket on our local dive sites in Phuket, which feature warm water and beautiful marine life. And once you have your certification, you will be able to go on our Phuket scuba diving day trips with whoever you choose to dive with.

Your first step toward becoming certified to go scuba diving should be the PADI Open Water Course. In addition, the PADI Open Water Course is a full-fledged international scuba diving course, just as you might anticipate. After you have received your certification, you will be able to dive to a depth of up to 18 metres without the assistance of an instructor.

Itinerary

The PADI Open Water Course is PADI’s entry level scuba diving certification. This is the PADI Course that teaches you how to safely scuba dive with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18m. So once you have completed this course you will be CERTIFIED PADI OPEN WATER DIVER. And be able to dive with a buddy all over the world!

The Course is broken down into three parts:

“Classroom”

This is the first part of the course and starts with you completing your online portion of the course. This consists of the Open Water manual, DVD, and your quizzes and Final Exam. If you are don’t like online learning that’s no problem we still have the paper Open Water manual and traditional DVD. There are Quick Quizzes which test you along the way. At the end of each Chapter there is a Knowledge Review which you need to complete before you can continue to the next. And at the end of the 5 chapters there is your Final Exam. When you get to class on Day 1 of your Open Water Course, your Instructor will give you a Quick Quiz of 25 questions. And in addition, go over anything that you are not completely sure about.

As mentioned above, for your manual, you can choose from a Touch, Digital, eLearning or a paper manual. The nice thing about the PADI Touch or Digital Manuals is that they allow you to start your Open Water Course TODAY! Even though you are not on Phuket yet.

This usually takes around 6-8 to complete online. Once here your classroom should be around 1-2 hours depending on how prepared you are by the time you start. So if you are coming to Phuket on holiday, then we recommend starting your online study as soon as you can.

Whichever you choose, even if you prefer the traditional paper manual, it is included in your PADI Open Water Course Price!

Pool Dives and Skill Development

Now the fun really starts. Your pool dives take place in a purpose built scuba diving training pool. This is a specially designed pool built to provide the depths we need to teach you properly. In this part of the course you will learn the basic skills needed to dive safely, along with various troubleshooting techniques. These are skills like Mask Clearing and Regulator Clearing. You will also put into practice what you learnt about moving underwater and some we call “buoyancy”. This how you get “neutrally buoyant” so that you feel weightless and can glide through the water. By learning the basics first in the pool allows you to comfortably progress in a nice and controlled environment with no outside distractions.

The pool dives take 4-6 hours depending on class size and how easily you take to scuba diving. We found it easy, but obviously everyone learns at a different pace. However, we have all the time in the world for this. As such, we take our time and go at whatever speed you find the most comfortable.

Open Water Dives

The last 2 days of the Open Water Diver Course are spent out on the boat diving some of our favorite local Phuket dive sites! The dive sites we choose are the best dive sites for entry level divers. As a result you will be going to several of over 15 different dives sites in and round the Racha Yai and Racha Noi islands.
