Description

Liveaboard safari is the ultimate way to dive. You stay on a diving boat and do 4 dives in a day, eat and sleep in between and dive again the next day. Liveaboard boats can also reach places that daytrips cannot and visit the more familiar sites in times that there are no other boats to crowd the dive sites.

Typically a liveaboard trip has 4 dives per day. The first dive starts at the time the sun rises. After the first dive there is a hefty breakfast and time to chill reading a book, watching a movie or comparing diving stories with your fellow divers.

During the day there are 2 more dives with rest and lunch in between them. The last dive of the day is normally a night dive, after which it is time for dinner and relaxing before hitting the bunks (or king size bed) for the night.

Liveaboards are for more experienced divers who really want to focus on diving. Typically a diver on a liveaboard safari is certified advanced level or above. You can also complete you Advanced course on a liveaboard, but you should be already Open Water certified with some diving experience under your belt before going on a liveaboard safari.

Similan Islands are perhaps the most famous diving and snorkelling area in Thailand. There are 9 Islands in this group and they are situated approximately 60+ kilometres from the coast of Khao Lak and Tap Lamu. While the southern Similan Islands have been closed for diving and snorkelling activities for some time in order to protect the environment, The remaining Islands will offer plenty of underwater area to explore and weird creatures to encounter.

There are slopes that are covered in coral bommies and colourful soft corals. Some of the divesites are littered with huge granite boulders that form labyrinths and swim troughs. There are shallow coral gardens that offer great snorkelling, and there are deep drop offs or just big blue water dropping to 70+ meters. The currents can be quite strong so good diving skills are essential. You can visit the Island no.9 Donald Duck bay with the iconic sail rock.

Marine life is beautiful and plentiful..  also quite accustomed to people. Once upon a time there was a turtle in this bay that would gently come and bite a piece of watermelon from your mouth- without biting your lips in the process
